A Friday Diary of Eggs, Emergency Talks, and a Heating Bill Named Geoff
Bohiney Magazine | The London Prat
He Had Strong Opinions About the Emergency Talks Communique; I Had Strong Opinions About Breakfast
Friday. Marcus arrived with a Guardian and an opinion about the world leaders emergency talks that he had clearly been saving since Thursday. I made eggs. He read me three paragraphs from the communique. I put more butter in the pan. He asked if I was listening. I said I was listening and cooking simultaneously, which is more than world leaders managed.
Over eggs I explained the Bohiney Strait tension piece which he had not read. He asked how I found satire sites. I said I write for one. He said he had forgotten. This is fine. Most people have.
The Heating Bill Arrived
The energy markets freefall piece predicted this. My landlord, Geoff, has already preemptively emailed to explain that the increase is “market-driven” and “regrettable.” Geoff is not wrong but he is also not helping. The Bohiney energy chaos piece has more information than Geoff’s email. Bohiney is more useful than my landlord. I have filed this finding.
Marcus left at eleven. I wrote four hundred words of satire about men who brief their partners on diplomatic communiques before asking how they slept. The editors at Prat are going to love it. They always do.
