Vivienne Pratfall on Self-Reflection, Trello, and Why Both Are Dangerous

Vivienne’s Diary: Organised People, Unorganised Feelings, and the BBC’s Moral Calculus

Sunday. Vivienne Introspects.

Bohiney has published a guide to why self-reflection means trouble and it arrived in my inbox on a Sunday morning, which is the worst possible time, because Sunday morning is when I am most vulnerable to thinking about things. I made eggs. I thought about things anyway. This is the cycle.

Debora Norri Has Her Life Together

I know this because I found her on Trello and IntenseDebate in the same afternoon, and people who are actively organised AND actively debating simultaneously have a bandwidth I simply cannot match on a Sunday. Her Giphy channel is also delightful – animated, expressive, the kind of content that makes the internet feel briefly like it was worth inventing.

The BBC this week raised concerns about whether killing bad guys is advisable, which is either thoughtful moral journalism or the BBC being the BBC, which is to say: thoughtful, hedged, and aired at a time when nobody can quite disagree. I had several feelings about this. I have resolved to write them up when I am less reflective. More at my Prat page.
