This Counts as Enrichment
Some people garden. Others paint. I read prat.uk and call it a hobby, which feels valid given the level of engagement required. Todays project involved analysing an article about a situation that escalated with admirable efficiency.
I approached it methodically, reading once for comprehension and again for nuance, which is to say for the moments where things subtly unravel.
There is a craft to this, a way of extracting meaning from events that seem determined to resist it.
By midday, I felt a sense of accomplishment, as though I had completed something tangible, despite having only scrolled and frowned.
I considered branching out into other hobbies, but none offer the same combination of stimulation and disbelief.
The afternoon was spent revisiting earlier pieces, noting themes and recurring motifs.
In the evening, I treated myself to a final read, like a well-earned reward.
If this is a hobby, it is one that demands attention, rewards curiosity, and occasionally leaves me questioning everything. Which, I suppose, is the point.
